Un día estaba tomando un café con un amigo y me habló de una fundación en Tailandia que me fascinó. Yo tenía un viaje a Tailandia la semana siguiente y supe que tenía que contar esa historia a través de mi visión.
La historia se retrata a través de la fuerza. Elle es la protagonista del documental. Es una chica tailandesa que fue futbolista y que en su juventud se ganó la vida jugando a fútbol fuera de Tailandia. Actualmente lidera este proyecto en Tailandia que ayuda a equipos de niños y niñas que juegan a fútbol a tener mejores condiciones en todos los sentidos. A través de los valores del deporte, con el fútbol como medio, enseñan a los niños a desarrollar habilidades que les ayuden a ellos mismos.
El proyecto no se queda ahí. Elle se construyó a sí misma. No contaba con el apoyo emocional de su familia. Se aventuró a salir de Tailandia para cumplir su sueño, pero lo consiguió sin referencias. Cuando regresó a Tailandia, apareció en los periódicos. En ese momento, y no antes, su madre la miró y se dio cuenta de lo importante que era lo que hacía. A partir de ese momento, todo cambió para Elle. Aunque su increíble fuerza siempre la había caracterizado, contar ahora con el apoyo de su madre hizo que todos sus valores y sus ganas de cambiar el mundo se multiplicaran por mil.
Las niñas que aparecen en el documental son dos niñas a las que Elle adora con una sensibilidad especial. También son mejores amigas entre sí. Tienen algunas diferencias. Mook tiene un nivel económico bastante bueno y, gracias al deporte, no está sola. Si no fuera por eso, probablemente su entorno social sería totalmente distinto. El caso de su mejor amiga es muy diferente: toda la familia vive en una casa muy pequeña y las condiciones económicas no son las mejores. Si no tuviera el fútbol, ya estaría trabajando en el pequeño puesto de comida que hay junto a su casa.
Las dos niñas admiran a Elle. Quieren ser como ella algún día. (Estoy llorando al escribir esto). Conocer estas historias me hizo sentir la necesidad de hablar de esto: de lo importante que es tener modelos de conducta y una red afectiva que apoye tu desarrollo. Qué importante es sentir la admiración de tus seres queridos. Qué bonito que, con el deporte como medio, se puedan desarrollar valores tan importantes en los niños.
Esto lo grabé yo sola en mi viaje a Tailandia, donde pasé dos días con Elle y compañía. Gracias a este proyecto conocí a la que creo que es la persona más bella que he conocido nunca.

One day I was having coffee with a friend and he told me about a foundation in Thailand that fascinated me. I had a trip to Thailand the following week and I knew I had to tell that story through my vision.
The story is portrayed through strength. Elle is the protagonist of the documentary. She is a Thai girl who was a football player and who in her youth made a living from playing football outside Thailand. Currently, she is leading this project in Thailand which helps teams of girls and boys who want to play football to have better conditions in every way. Through the values of sport, with football as a medium, they teach children develop skills that help themselves.
The focus of the project is not just there. Elle built herself. She did not have the emotional support of her family. She ventured out of Thailand to fulfil her dream but she succeeded without a reference. When she returned to Thailand, she appeared in the newspapers. At that moment, and not before, her mother looked at her and realised how important it was what she was doing. From that point on, everything for Elle changed. Even though her incredible strength had always characterised her, having her mother’s support now made all her values and her desire to change the world multiply a thousandfold.
The girls featured in the documentary are two girls that Elle adores with a special sensitivity. They are also best friends with each other. They have some differences. Mook has a fairly good economic background and thanks to sport, she is not alone. If it wasn’t for that, her social environment would probably be totally different. The case of her best friend is very different: the whole family lives in a very small house and the economic conditions are not the best. If she didn’t have football training, she would already be working at the small food stall next to her house.
Both girls look up to Elle. They want to be like her one day. (I’m crying writing this). Knowing these stories made me want to talk about this: how important it is to have role models and an affective network to support your development. How important it is to feel the admiration of your loved ones. How beautiful that, with sport as a medium, such important values can be developed in children.
I recorded this by myself on my trip to Thailand where I spent two days with Elle and company. Thanks to this project I met what I think is the most beautiful person I’ve ever met.
